Post Taylor Swift To Host 'Saturday Night Live' In November

According to MTV News, Taylor Swift is scheduled to host SNL sometime in November. Here's what she had to say about it:
A lot has happened since Taylor Swift was the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" in January, so it makes perfect sense that the country superstar has been tapped to host the show on November 7. But the 19-year-old still finds the opportunity "mind-blowing."

"I've been thinking about skit ideas for a long time," she told The Associated Press. "There are definitely some hilarious things that have happened to me over the past couple of months that I think will be pretty substantial skits."

While an "SNL" gig seems like the perfect opportunity for Swift to exact revenge on Kanye West for their VMA encounter, she said she's just looking forward to working with the show's cast and writers.

"I love being around people who I feel have a different kind of creative genius. And the funny genius is definitely a fascinating one to be around," she said, adding that it was hard for her not to talk about getting the gig since she found out about it this summer.

Swift is no stranger to embracing her comic side on TV (witness her rap with T-Pain at this year's CMT Awards) and pulling pranks on her tourmates while on the road. She's also hoping to get some one-on-one time with Justin Timberlake's frequent comic collaborator, Andy Samberg.

"Of course, I've been such a fan for a long time, but I've gone back and rewatched everything over the past couple of months, and digital shorts would be so much fun to do, because they've been done so well," she explained. "Andy Samberg is hilarious."
Fun Facts: The last person to serve both as host and musical guest was Ludacris, almost three years ago, on November 18th, 2006. The last female to do both was Queen Latifah on October 9th, 2004.

Taylor is the youngest person to hold both duties. Previous record holder? Britney Spears, at 22, in 2002.

I thought Justin Timberlake was the most recent person to be both host/musical guest on the 2006 Christmas episode.

Also, Bon Jovi will be music guest on Dec 12 as part of their many TV appearances to promote their new album:

My prediction: One mildly amusing sketch about Kanye (possibly with a Kanye cameo) followed by 85 minutes of dreck.

I don't really like Taylor's music. It's always I love you, but I can't be with you, because you see us as friends, or your a Montigue, or you have a girlfriend. Then something happens like he sees her as more than friends, his dad says it's ok (which was total bull, as Romeo's father would never let him marry the daughter of the head of the Capulates), or he breaks up with the girlfriend, so now we can be together. That's what all her songs are about. Come up with something different! I did feel bad for her after that whole Kanye thing at the VMA's

You're right. I completely glossed over JT, but I knew he had done double duties, I just wasn't sure when. He hosted three shows after Ludacris, the same season. So, we haven't had double duties since 2006.

I'm not sure what to expect from Taylor. Her live singing last season in the Neil Patrick Harris episode (January 09) left a lot to be desired, and her performance in the Broadway sketch as Annie wasn't that great, either (but beside that, it was a great sketch).

And aside from the Kanye incident, there really isn't much else left to do with Taylor Swift. She sang on the show ten months ago, but she hasn't released a new album. I guess she'll be singing more songs from the album that she didn't perform last January?

I guess I should look on the bright side. At least it's not Miley Cyrus. Or the Jonas Brothers.

Also, I don't know how they can top this sketch with Kanye from two seasons ago.

For those who can't see, it's basically Kanye interrupting a myriad of award shows. It's hilarious. Take a cue from MADtv and play this as an encore.

I took the liberty of replacing your Hulu link with a Megavideo one. Mandatory viewing for anyone who likes to laugh.
