[General] MADtv and SNL at the Creative Art Emmys

The Creative Art Emmy winners were announced today and our friends at MADtv and SNL have taken home the golden statues once again. SNL was up for eight awards tonight, and MADtv was up for two.

SNL and 30 Rock star Tina Fey received her first ever Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for her work as former governor Sarah Palin in the Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008.

The Motherlover himself, Justin Timberlake also took home the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series statue for his work on the penultimate episode of last season.

SNL alum Jimmy Fallon's Late Night beat out Saturday Night Live's website for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media - Nonfiction.

In a heated battle for Outstanding Makeup For A Multi-Camera Series Or Special (Non-Prosthetic), it was MADtv that was victorious over SNL (among others) for Episode 1405. Congratulations to MADtv's makeup artists for continuing to take home the gold for their work. Too bad it'll be their last...

MADtv and SNL were also nominated for Outstanding Hairstyling For A Multi-Camera Series Or Special, but ultimately lost out to Dancing with the Stars. SNL also lost out in Outstanding Lighting Direction (Electronic, Multi-Camera) For Variety, Music Or Comedy Programming and Outstanding Art Direction For A Multi-Camera Series.

MADtv History Lesson: Since it's creation, MADtv has been nominated for twenty-three Emmys. First nominated in 1999, MADtv has won five. In 2001 they took away Outstanding Hairstyling for a Series. In 2005 they won Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program. 2006 saw two wins, again in Outstanding Costumes and in Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics (Wonderfully Normal Day). 2009's Outstanding Makeup Emmy is their last.

The Primetime Emmys will take place September 20, 2009. Kristen Wiig and Amy Poehler are both nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Poehler was previously nominated in 2008, this is Wiig's first nomination. "Motherlover" lyricists Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, Andy Samberg, and Justin Timberlake are nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. SNL is also up for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.

Actually, they have not won for makeup yet, as I stated in my original article and that's what makes this award so great, as Jennifer Aspinall, who has been on MADtv from the beginning, and has not won any Emmy's for her great work on MAD, finally get's some recognition. Congrats Jennifer, you're Emmy is well deserved. Now she can always look at that Emmy, and feel proud of the great work she did on MAD.

Oh, and I forgot to add, f**k yea! MAD pulls out one last victory against it's competitor, and there first Emmy since '06! Rejoise the few MADtv fanatics that are still here rejoice, as we go out with style, and a glorious golden woman holding an atom! Time to party, as we celebrate one more achievement for the great MADtv!

As you will read, even she didn't think she was going to win. Well I guess so. After 6 years of losing out in the same category, who wouldn't think that?

"I didn't really make a speech," said a visibly moved Jennifer Aspinall, "MADtv" head makeup artist. "I thought we'd lose."

I wish I could see what she said (and also what she actually looks like), but I we no longer have E! anymore in Canada, who are running the show, f**k!
